Credit level: F7
Pre-requisites   EAS6156
Pre-requisites for   EAS6165   (when the module is running)

Description

This module introduces the core issues and main theories of second language acquisition. More importantly, it reviews the current issues in second language acquisition research involving Chinese. It intends to increase the students' understanding of the Chinese grammar in comparison with those of other languages and their awareness of the difficulties that second language learners of Chinese may confront. Through this module, it is hoped that the students will be able to describe the Chinese grammar in an effective way in their future instruction of Chinese. They will have reasonable expectations of the progress in second language learners' Chinese, and will integrate the awareness of the difficulties that the learners may have to their future language teaching so that they can facilitate the learners in a more effective way.
